Prep that decides the outcome
- Clean and brighten the wood; remove any failing coating.
- Let new pressure-treated lumber weather before staining.
- Test moisture — stain over damp wood will not penetrate.
- Back-brush anything you spray.
Common questions
Translucent or solid?
Translucent shows grain and needs refreshing sooner; solid hides grain and lasts longest. Semi-transparent is the common middle.
