What to know
Cellular shades trap air inside honeycomb cells, which is why they are the best-performing insulator we sell — meaningful on west-facing glass and in rooms that fight the afternoon heat. They also stack to almost nothing at the top of the window. Top-down/bottom-up gives you daylight up high and privacy at eye level.

The honeycomb cells compress as the shade rises. Fully down is the most insulation and privacy; part-way is where most people live day to day. Top-down/bottom-up versions open from either end.
